Heyhooos!
Finished TheClayMarble in two hours last night. #dontmeantobrag :B ANWS, if you're having trouble understanding the Khmer Rouge era thingy, here's a link: http://www.edwebproject.org/sideshow/khmeryears/index.html It really helps. ^^
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, from here on is JUST EXTRA INFOMATION. For those who, like me, are confused by the "capitalism" and "communist" thing, here's extracts from some sites i went to.(WARNING: I repeat, YOU DONT HAVE TO READ IT. And don't read if you haven't finished The Clay Marble.)

Capitalism is a social system based on the recognition of individual rights, including property rights, in which all property is privately owned. Under capitalism the state is separated from economics (production and trade), just like the state is separated from religion. Capitalism is the system of of laissez faire. It is the system of political freedom.
- Adapted from http://www.capitalism.org/faq/capitalism.htm.

Sounds biased. But, ehmeheff, it was the fastest, most comprehendable explaination given online. Oh and the term laissez-faire means the practice of noninterference in the affairs of others, esp. with reference to individual conduct or freedom of action. (Oh that is so biased. Ah well. It's Capitalism.Org anws. :___:)
Basically, what i think they're trying to say is that capitalism is a system whereby "you reap what you sow". The rich is rich because they worked hard. The poor is poor because they were lazy. The normal-incomed people are .... Well. They didn't work hard, but they weren't lazy, so yeah. This system is what many countries ,including Sinchapore, have implemented.

Communism is the political and economic doctrine that aims to replace and a profit-based economy with public ownership and communal control of at least the major means of production (e.g., mines, mills, and factories) and the natural resources of a society. Communism is thus a form of socialism—a higher and more advanced form, according to its advocates
- Adapted from http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/129104/communism.

Now before y'all read my attempts at explaination(and understanding all these crappy terms. Bleah.), i might as well put up the definition of socialism.
Socialism a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
- Extracted from http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/socialism.

Socialism aims to shrink the gap between the rich and the poor as present in democratic society and instead, allows people to have access to resources according to their needs.

(sorry for the two paras thing. One's from Dictionary.com, the other is an explaination from my P6 teacher. :B)(and i am NOT going to explain democracy. Bleah.)

Basically, communism is the idea or theory of having NO social class system, and everyone being equal. Equal amounts of money, food, water, space, needs. The poor would not live in poverty, the rich will not live in luxury, everyone is equal. (okay from here on is what i gather over the dinner table. My father repeats politics alot.) Sounds nicer than capitalism right? Like my father would say, it is heaven, but only applicable to heaven. So far no country has fully applied communism to govern the country, because it is impossible to do so without the country corrupting. Oh, people have tried. But it never works out.
Simply put, if everyone would get the same amount of ample food, water and money, the lazy people would receive more than they deserved of the fruits of hardworking people, and when hardworking people see that even with their efforts, they still get the same as the lazy people, they will see no more point in wasting their energy. Might as well sit back like the lazy people and enjoy the fruits of others work. --That kinda thing would happen.

Whoa. This post is freaking long. Shall not exhaust you alot any further, and i haveta go actually DO Lit. :____: Tag if you found this useful. Or not. BUT NO ONE. AND I MEAN NO ONE(even a non-living object), IS TO TAG "Huh?". IF NOT...... Well. Let's just say my head will be in Norway, half of each of YOUR limbs in Cork, Ventspils, Reyjavik and Schomberg.[:

Cheers!
KJ!*
P.S Here's Nationalism, if y'all wanna know more, cos Civil wars are usually between the Communists and the Nationalists.
Nationalism is an idealisation of a nation, with a sense of uncritical acceptance and belief in superiority, a tendency to define one's group by descent, race or culture and regarding one's own group as homogenous and being derogatory about the other group.
- Extracted from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nationalism. (ehmeheff i actually understood that part of Wiki! YIPEEE>)
